The only tech mods in the pack are FactoryTech, Magneticraft and Pneumaticraft. I'm making a 1.12.2 pack at the moment which is basically exactly this - you use Botania, Astral Sorcery, Thaumcraft, Embers, Blood Magic, Bewitchment, Nature's Aura to produce and generate RF to power an Ender-Rift. Someone already mentioned Mystical Village 2. There are plans for a quest book to help guide you, but it's still unfinished. Even better, it's still being actively updated. Magiculture 2 is still in development, but it looks to be one of the best. If you're looking for a more of a kitchen sink style pack: I also haven't played it, so I couldn't tell you much about it. Magical Progression is another expert pack, although as far as I know it has no quest book. It's once again done to encourage cave exploration, but it just makes mining more frustrating than it needs to be imo. Basically they have it so that stone gets harder as you get deeper requiring a higher mining level to mine. In a similar vein, Fantasy Evolved: Quest for Magic is another expert pack, although not one I played for very long, as I found the early game far to grindy for my tastes. Mining can be a bit tough at times (ore gen is modified so that less veins spawn but the individual veins are larger it's meant to encourage exploring caves rather than branch mining) but the pack isn't terribly resource heavy (in that you don't need ludicrous amounts of resources to progress), so it balances out. My personal favorites are thaumcraft 4 (cannot go wrong with thaumcraft for magic) and PSI (this feels more like programming but it's still really good)Īrcane Anarchy is a magic expert pack, and pretty much the only decent one I've found. If you're going to just mod your game outright, this is a list of good magic mods that i have played mostly all the way through: Regrowth is centered around Botania and is really funīlightfall is MASSIVE and is centered around questing, and it does have a magic path (it's also one of the most well made modpacks, ever!
